Right after the inauguration of PRESIDENT RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE as the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines at Rizal Hall, Malacañan Palace, the Presidential Guards Battalion also welcomes a new set of officers to lead its personnel. The new, able and competent officers of the Presidential Guards Battalion under the leadership of its Commander, COL IGNATIUS N PATRIMONIO (GSC) PA will continue to perform the unit’s mandate of securing the Malacañan Palace, The Mansion in Baguio City, Malacañang sa Sugbo in Cebu City, and the Presidential Geust House in Davao City in order to secure the safety of the President, the First Family and the Seat of Government.
Presidential Guards must adopt various ideas in order to cope up with the challenges of the new administration. Under the guidance of COL PATRIMONIO, the Officers and Senior NCOs conducted a comprehensive review of the unit’s operational procedures. Upon understanding what are the thing to be done, revisions are underway to improve the security operations of the Presidential Guards Battalion in all of its areas of responsibility. This unit has deployed forces in Davao City to secure the Presidential Guest House (Panacañang) and the Official Residence of PRRD in Matina, Davao City. Deployment of forces in Malacañang sa Sugbo will materialize in the months ahead.
Presidential Guards have spearheaded the conduct of Barangay Ugnayan with the Malacañang Integrated Barangays (MALIBA) together with the other stakeholders within the Malacañang Complex on September 12, 2016 at the Malacañang Museum Hall in order to have a unified approach of addressing challenges that come along the way. As such, we were able to provide the necessary support for the local leaders in the implementation of their programs in the nation’s fight against drugs and all forms of terrorism. The constant interaction with the community and its local officials has shaped the unit’s operational environment. The community is very cooperative and their untiring support in every activity is always above par.
In the months ahead, we will also welcome the different Heads of State/Government of the members of the ASEAN Summit by providing ceremonial honors. It is in this regard that we have already started our preparations to live up to the standards as the nation’s finest Battalion Honor Guards. Our Officers and men maintain our readiness to be physically and mentally fit in order to hurdle the demanding yet rewarding tasks in the coming months. With the guidance of our Commander’s leadership, we will continue to do our part in the accomplishment of the overall mission of the Presidential Security Group. The Officers and men of the Presidential Guards will always perform their best and will always “BE KIND, BUT FIRM!!!”
