President Rodrigo Roa Duterte joined the citizens of Socorro, Oriental Mindoro, yesterday as they celebrated People’s Day.
Mayor Maria Fe Brondial, National President of League of Municipalities of the Philippines, emphasized during the interview that she was really impressed with the way the Presidential Security Group executed the necessary security measures. “This was far different from the last time I invited him here. But I totally understand. He is now the President and he must be protected against all possible threats,” she said.
This is the first time for Socorro, Oriental Mindoro to have a People’s Day. For a third-class municipality, it is of great opportunity to be visited by the President of the Republic. In such way, President Duterte shows that he does not forget the Filipinos in the grassroots. The President also expressed his genuine love to the townspeople by reiterating his support for the growth agriculture and its related industries.
Department of Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol was also present in the said event to show his support for the administration and relay to Socorronians the projects and plans of the agency for them.
