After arriving from Clark International Airport in Pampanga and Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay, majority of the country leaders attending the 31st ASEAN Summit gathered together at SMX Convention Center for the Gala Dinner.
The event hosted by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, ASEAN Chairman, together with his common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña showed the Filipino talent and rich culture. It was a celebration of not only the 50 years of ASEAN. More importantly, it is a celebration of friendship and strong bind among countries in Southeast Asia as well as its dialogue partners.
Present during the event were PM Thongloun Sisoulith of People’s Democratic Republic of Lao (Lao PDR), PM Nguyan Xuan Phuc of Viet Nam, Myanmar Union Minister for Foreign Affairs Aung San Suu Kyi, President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, PM Prayut Chan-O-Cha of Thailand, PM Najib Razak of Malaysia, PM Lee Hsien Long of Singapore, PM Hun Sen of Cambodia, and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei.
ASEAN dialogue partners were also present. They were PM Dmitry Medvedev of Russia, PM Justin Trudeau of Canada, PM Malcom Bligh Turnbull of Australia, President Donald Trump of USA, PM Narenda Domodardas Modi of India, Premier of the State Council of People’s Republic of China (PRC) Li Keqiang, and PM Shinzo Abe of Japan.
They are set to have their first day of Summit tomorrow, 13 November 2023 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City.
