Peace talks between CPP-NDF-NPA and the Philippine government have officially been terminated by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte yesterday afternoon, 23 November 2017.
Under Proclamation 360 signed by PPRD, it was emphasized that the Philippine government is already closing its doors for peace negotiations with the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front-New People’s Army (CNN).
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said, “The President, as we all know, has always wanted to leave a legacy of peace under his administration. He has, in fact, walked the extra mile for peace. Rest assured that he will continuously pray that we may all find peace that we seek for our beloved country in the fullness of God’s time.”
He further added that President Duterte decided to cancel the peace talks after the other party has “failed to show sincerity and commitment in pursuing genuine and meaningful peaceful negotiations.”
NPA, its military wing, has been engaging into violent acts against the government and the Filipino people which included ambush to the police, killing of innocent lives and its recent encounter with the Presidential Security Group (PSG) who are assigned to protect the President.
