President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has flown all the way to Jaro, Iloilo, to visit the wake of those who died from the tragedy last 03 August 2019 that involved three boats along Iloilo-Guimaras Strait.
These three incidents happened separately within the same day leaving 31 people dead; 13 remains currently lie at Gegato-Abecia Funeral Homes in Jaro district.
The President arrived in the area with Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rolando Jose Bautista who was previously the Presidential Security Group Commander way back in 2016.
Families of the deceased received PhP50,000.00 cash by DSWD apart from separate financial support enclosed in envelopes from Senator Go and the President himself. The families expressed that President Duterte’s presence was a relief to their sorrow.
He was also supposed to visit Guimaras to visit survivors who are under recovery in a hospital but the Presidential Security Group, through its Commander, BGEN JOSE ERIEL M NIEMBRA AFP, cancelled his appointment due to the inclement weather. #
