BGEN JOSE ERIEL M NIEMBRA AFP, Commander of the Presidential Security Group, shall be leaving the rest of the PSG troopers tomorrow 25 February 2020 as he now takes a new post as Brigade Commander of the 701st Infantry Brigade, 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, stationed in Mati, Davao Oriental.
For less than two years since his appointment as PSG Commander in 30 May 2018, BGEN NIEMBRA has set the standards really high not only for the morale of his troopers but more importantly for the safety and security of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
He has made significant changes in PSG from RFID access at entry points and constructing of new facilities aligned with the government’s “Build Build Build” program to usage of bulletproof panel for PRRD and procurement of highly capable tactical equipment, BGEN NIEMBRA has truly upgraded PSG’s security to ensure the safety of the nation’s highest chief executive.
But apart from these milestones, he also made initiatives in supporting the goals and aspirations of PRRD for having a better country through consistent participation of PSG troopers in: clean-up drives along Manila Bay, Davao coastline, and Pasig River as well as tree-planting activities; medical and dental missions in nearby communities; relief operations for victims of natural catastrophes; Brigada Eskwela for neighboring educational institutions; support to physically challenged children and welfare of women; leadership capacity building for the youth around Malacañang; and festivities that nourished the cultural roots of troopers and locals in other localities.
Apart from constantly strengthening the physical and tactical capabilities of PSG, BGEN NIEMBRA is also remarkable with his battle cry, “One PSG” that united the PSG troopers towards fulfilling their role as protectors of the President for believing that “serving the President is actually serving the Filipino nation” and even rendering service beyond their mandate just to reach out to the general public for nation-building.
BGEN NIEMBRA may be leaving the PSG headquarters but he will always be a PSG trooper by heart.
Thank you, Sir. Salute!
