Pray Without Ceasing

The month of October each year is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7th. It was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful.” (Rev. Matthew R. Mauriello, Source: Catholic.net)

Presidential Escort (PE) personnel celebrated the Rosary month in October 2016, by reciting the rosary prayer every 6:00 PM for 30 days. This activity had the full support of the Commander, COL JESUS P DURANTE III PA, Officers, Enlisted Personnel and the unit’s dependents. While the unit is focused on close-in security operations, it does not neglect the spiritual needs of its personnel and their families.

The PE personnel is evident in this voluntary religious celebration come October. Through their prayers, they do not only communicate with God but He in turn speaks to them. They also believe that by praying, they are able to live out their Faith.

The sponsorship of the Rosary prayer from the 1st day of October until the last or culminating day was done voluntarily by each of the offices and personnel of the unit. This shows the strong belief that in prayer we do not only talk with God, but God communicates with us. Our continuous prayers lets our relationship with God grow more and serve as guiding principles in transforming our lives to be of good service to our fellowmen.

In our field of work, prayer should be our best weapon because prayer is more powerful than anything else.

Praying the Rosary is a path of contemplation and said to be among the finest and most praiseworthy traditions of Christian contemplation. It is not only a vocal prayer but also a meditative prayer. Amongst this art of prayer, the most important and needed is how we live our Christian Faith.

As witnessed in the movies, books, and based from the life and experiences of others, especially in the military life, the power of the Rosary has greatly contributed to the amazing military triumphs because of their devotion in reciting the Rosary prayer despite great and often times insurmountable odds.

Praying the rosary can benefit anyone at any stage of the spiritual life from beginners to advance. Praying does not select a place, anybody can pray anywhere at any time.

Psalm 1:1-3 tells us how to be happy: “Blessed (happy) is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
