PSG commemorates 120 years of service

A century and two decades old, the Presidential Security Group has indeed evolved from a group of men called Columnas Vigilantes or escoltas to an elite military unit augmented by men and women from Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Metro Manila Development Authority, and Bureau of Fire Protection as well as several civilian personnel.

Last 28 June 2023 (Wednesday) marked the 120th Founding Anniversary of PSG from the day President Emilio Aguinaldo formed Columna Vigilantes or Escoltas in 1897. This year’s theme, “Protecting the Presidency, Ensuring Stability and Progress,” illustrates PSG’s crucial role in keeping the President safe, which is essential to the stability and progress of our country.

Prior to the anniversary program, there has been a series of pre-anniversary activities such as Fun Games, Fun Shoot, 10k Fun Run, and tree planting—that boosted the morale of PSG troopers as well as brought closer ties among various units that make up the PSG.

One of the highlights of the activity was the ceremonial groundbreaking for the  renovation of the PSG Station Hospital that will provide better medical service to the troopers. Best performing personnel, stakeholders, and friends of PSG who have been of great help to the unit will also be awarded.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was the Guest of Honor and Speaker on this momentous event.
