ASEAN early birds: Cambodia PM and Myanmar State Counsellor

Cambodia Prime Minister Hun was the first to arrive among heads of state/government who will attend the 31st Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit to be held in the Philippines.

He was shortly followed by Sen Myanmar’s state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, the only woman nation leader to attend the Summit. Both of them landed at Clark International Airport this afternoon, 11 November 2017.

They were welcomed MGEN ROLANDO JOSELITO D BAUTISTA, Commanding General of Philippine Army; VADM RONALD JOSEPH S MERCADO, Flag Officer-in-Command of Philippine Navy; and MGEN GALILEO GERARD KINTANAR, Commanding General of Philippine Air Force as well as Ambassador Marciano T Paynor Jr, General Manager of ASEAN-National Organizing Council; Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana; and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who is now a congresswoman of Pampanga.

 

During the 30th ASEAN Summit last April 2017, PM Hun Sen and State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi were also present in all the meetings set for the leaders. This time, they are also expected to be present in the two-day Summit in the country.
