Presidential Security Group (PSG) Commander COL JOSE ERIEL M NIEMBRA once again commends the men and women of PSG and supporting units for a job well done. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA) was a huge success last Monday, July 23, 2018.
The efforts of the men and women who worked behind the curtains made it all possible. Most notably, the dedication of the PSG through the Task Force SONA (TF SONA) did their mandated task of protecting and securing the President, the First family, and other dignitaries. The bar was raised higher for the preparation of the SONA this year.
“Let us do our best in protecting the President, let us work hard for the success of the SONA.” the words of TF SONA Commander COLONEL FREDDIE T DELA CRUZ before getting into action for the actual event.
The PSG worked and collaborated with security enforcement agencies of the government: AFP, PNP, MMDA, BFP, PCG, and the Legislative Security Bureau. The Local Government of Quezon City, Department of Health, Manila International Airport Authority, and the National Telecommunications Commission, were also partners toward ensuring the security and protection of the President, regardless of any threat.
Thorough preparation included the simulation exercise that was conducted last July 20, 2018, at the grounds of Batasan Complex – where the SONA is traditionally held. Each and every unit leader/commander ensured that the troops are ready to assess and eliminate all possible security threats that may arise during the event.
With the successful implementation of the security plan, the outcome of the SONA turned out to be peaceful and orderly. The detailed planning and effective execution of all security forces were key factors for the success of the event.
