President Sirisena of Sri Lanka visits PH

President Maithripala Sirisena of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka arrived in Manila yesterday, 15 January 2019, for his state visit in the Philippines after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s invitation.

According to the information released by Malacañang, President Sirisena will be visiting the Sri Lankan community in Manila as well as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) located in Los Baños, Laguna.

President Sirisena went to Rizal Park and paid tribute and respect to Philippine National Hero Jose P. Rizal. Afterwhich, President Duterte and President Sirisena met in Malacañan Palace.

“Their bilateral discussions will focus on areas of mutual interest, including political, economic, agriculture, cultural and people-to-people engagement,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.

The Presidential Security Group (PSG) is in-charge of the security during his visit here in the country.
