PSG troopers donate their meal allowance to N. Cotabato quake victims

Malacañang Park, Manila The Presidential Security Group (PSG), initiated in providing assistance to the earthquake victims in North Cotabato through a voluntary donation from all the soldiers, men, women, and civilian employees which came from their one-day subsistence (meal) allowance.

The PSG, under the leadership of BGEN JOSE ERIEL M NIEMBRA AFP, conducted relief operations yesterday, 12 November 2019.

With this activity, PSG wants to help alleviate the suffering of the victims caused by the disastrous catastrophe that took lives, properties, and livelihood sources.

In a statement, BGEN NIEMBRA said, “Our primary task in PSG is to provide protection for the President, and in doing so we are also serving the nation. But in these trying times, we can’t just afford to just watch the news so we went beyond our mandate to directly bring our humble help to our fellow Filipinos here. I know many are affected . . . maybe there are some members of the New People’s Army who are here or their supporters, but in these times of difficulties, our government do not think of any ideological or political orientation. What is important is that help will be extended to those in need.”

He added, “To our brothers in the hinterlands, this is the government you are going against, that is also right here helping us now, most especially our President, who told me to tell everyone here that help will be delivered by all means.”

More than 500 food packs and boxes of medicines were distributed to more or less 800 quake victims from five (5) barangays, who are temporarily sheltered at Makilala Central Elementary School.
