PSG Troopers donate one day meal allowance for Typhoon Odette victims

The Presidential Security Group (PSG), under the leadership of COLONEL RANDOLPH G CABANGBANG PA, donated their one-day Subsistence (Meal) Allowance to provide assistance to those affected by Typhoon Odette in Siargao.

On top of the contribution made by the soldiers, men, women, and civilian employees of PSG, Ms. Amalia Lin Cabangbang handed over Php 100,000 collected from her donation drive.

In a statement, Col Cabangbang said, “I have seen the devastation in Siargao. No trees and huts were left standing, buildings were destroyed, no electricity and water. I really thought that the residents lost everything until I had the chance to talk to an old woman who was thankful that God spared their lives…they lost everything except their faith. We should help them in any way we can.”

The food packs, containing 3 gallons of water, 5 kilos of rice, canned goods, coffee, biscuits, condiments and noodles, will be delivered to BRP Ang Pangulo (ACS25) that was sent to Siargao in compliance to the orders of President Rodrigo Duterte. The ship, which was converted into a hospital ship, has been in Siargao-Dinagat Island area since December 23 conducting relief operations and medical mission for the victims. So far, medical check-ups and consultation wound suturing, distribution of medicines, antibiotics and supplements, psychological first aid and art therapy for children, and feeding activities were initiated. They also serviced haircut and mobile phone charging to the community.
