ASEAN Chairman and President of the Republic of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte formally opens ASEAN Summit this morning at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
In his speech he mentioned topics about ASEAN maritime security, as well as his intention, as the Chair to make the whole region drug-free. He also added that he supports the region’s decision not to intervene with one another’s internal affairs.
Ten ASEAN leaders are also set to talk about strengthening microbusinesses that include sari-sari stores and retailing industry. The region is the fourth largest exporter of goods in the world.
